Ministry of AYUSH, since its inception, has the vision of promoting the traditional Indian medicinal system at the global level. To achieve the same, emphasis is laid on improvement at various levels such as academic, research, and clinical fields. Ayurveda is the gem of India and is serving society since times immemorial. Through its various initiatives, Ministry has already provided an ideal ecosystem for clinical research and the results are evident from the enthusiasm shown towards Ayurveda at the global level.
Given the challenges of uniform functioning in the field of Ayurveda Manuscriptology, there arose the need for a governing body. Thus, the National Institute of Ayurveda which had already been working in this field in a manuscript Unit since 2016, is given the status of Nodal Agency for Ayurveda Manuscriptology since 11th December 2020. Preservation of Indian cultural and medical heritage in the form of manuscripts and exploration of underlined health-related wisdom therein for the common people are the major mandates of the Nodal Agency.
Any well-wisher of Ayurveda can contribute to Ayurveda through the Nodal Agency. The Ministry will continue to promote Ayurveda through its programs as we move forward to make India a global leader in holistic-medicine.
